Comprising of two sisters, Beth and Emillie Key and their cousin Meghann Loney, the family trio Wildwood Kin formed four years ago while in their mid to late teens. They borrow heavily from early folk influences, not least in their hypnotic three-part harmonies. But Turning Tides, their extraordinary debut album, delves deeply in to other genres, featuring both electric and acoustic instruments and it boasts inventive electronics and spectral atmospherics.
In 2015 the girls were shortlisted for a major BBC Radio Music Award and in 2016 their debut single Warrior Daughter spent several weeks on the Radio 2 playlist. Their tracks have notched several million streams on Spotify. They also feature on every track on Seth Lakeman's top 2016 top 20 album “Ballads of the Broken Few” produced by the legendary Ethan Johns.
Having just completed a UK wide support tour with Ward Thomas, they have a busy summer of festivals in Summer 2017 including the Avalon stage at Glastonbury, Cambridge Folk Festival and the Blue Balls festival in Switzerland.
Last year the band signed to Sony's newly revived "Silvertone" label, the band release their own album this month.
This show will be the first for promoters SW1 in Cornwall’s newest venue, a re-generated former industrial bakery on the river in the heart of Truro, The Old Bakery, or Old Bakery Studios is an underground maze of concrete and clay, housing an array of businesses from photographers, comedians to a pole dancing studio. The vibe is one of a trendy warehouse in Shoreditch, London…a real gem for Cornwall’s live music scene.
