FULL DESCRIPTION
Skinny Living began in 2013 when guitarist Will Booth was first floored by singer Ryan Johnston’s incredible voice at an open mic night in their hometown of Wakefield, before being augmented by Danny Hepworth (guitar) and Rhys Anderton (drums).
The band are the product of relentless hard work and live shows over the past few years. They have done it the old-fashioned way, building their own fanbase, self-financing trips to the Netherlands and around the UK where they played shows and slept on the floors of friends, all without any outside help, until finally bagging a deal with RCA in 2017. Since then they have worked with a string of top producers including Jake Gosling (Ed Sheeran), Mark Ralph (Clean Bandit, Years & Years) and Steve Robson (One Direction).
Their music has an incredible lived-in quality, built on Ryan’s vocal and lyrics that provide a heavy dose of wisdom. “Why” is the perfect example, about Ryan’s incredible bond with his sister. The accompanying video features her along with Ryan and its emotional impact is devastating and an incredibly brave first major label release with Ryan pouring very drop of emotion onto the screen.
