Get Lost and Found and The Roald Dahl Story Company presents
ROALD DAHL AND THE IMAGINATION SEEKERS
All around the world Roald Dahlʼs words are disappearing, not only from books but children’s minds too!
Now only a secret organisation known as the Ancient Guild of TaleTenders can save the stories - and they need your help...
Join Terry Tibblestick from the ancient guild of TaleTenders and his assistant Brenda Bogg. We learn all about what taletending involves and how to look after stories. TaleTenders have existed since the beginning of time and their one job is to remember and recall all the words of their storyteller-but maybe Terry hasn't been as diligent as he could have been?
Follow Brenda's journey as she reveals her discovery of the missing words, sparking danger that they are being eaten by the dreaded Wurblegobblers. Help her as she tries to convince Terry of the real and present danger the stories are in as she challenges him to see if he’s been protecting and preserving the stories, as she tries to restore the words to the books using imagination, play and a heart full of tenderness.
Especially made for ages 5 and up, the show develops both creative and literacy skills through performance, games, and creative play, while exploring Roald Dahl’s extraordinary stories, including The BFG and The Twits along the way
When director Rob Wilson was asked to create a show with the Roald Dahl Story Company and the Puffin division of Penguin Books, Dahl's words on children's stories Rung out 'Above all it must be funny' and 'A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men'.
“Roald Dahl books were my first introduction to literature as a child and I wanted with this show to honour that ‘after lights out, torchlight under the covers,’ thrilling reading experience, as well as creating a riotous interactive show which all the family enjoy. It touches on the tenderness of the relationship between children and the imaginative world of stories. The show encourages us all to put aside our overactive self-awareness for a moment and immerse in the creativity of imagination and expression whilst delighting and amusing us. We empower children to be the centre of the story and we take many suggestions from them throughout giving that live feel of improvisation. It's a nuts and bolts theatre show that relies on the acting and imagination of the children rather than big sets and special effects, which is precious in our modern world of screens and tech. Most importantly the show is keeping alive the magic of Dahls incredible ability to reach children in a way no other author has.”
