Ian Prowse of Pele and Amsterdam Plays An Acoustic Concert. Support From The Gleeman

  • Old Bakery Studios Malpas Road Truro, England, TR1 (map)

Get ready to experience the musical prowess of Merseyside's very own legend, Ian Prowse, live and unmissable! Fresh from wowing audiences across the UK on two epic tours alongside the iconic Elvis Costello, Ian's star power continues to shine. His remarkable journey includes an astonishing 40-episode online FB show during the pandemic and two back-to-back albums that have critics and fans alike raving, echoing his Pele days of '91.

Pele, the trailblazing band, skyrocketed with a chart-topping hit in South Africa and UK tours alongside The Pogues and Del Amitri, plus dominating BBC Radio 1 playlists. Next, Ian's creation, Amsterdam, brought John Peel to tears with the timeless "Does This Train Stop On Merseyside," eventually topping Irish LP charts and earning a cherished spot in London indie Beat Crazy.

Often hailed as the Scouse Springsteen, Ian's incendiary live performances have ignited stages from Reading and Glastonbury to Kendal Calling. Now, for the first time, Cornwall is in for a treat as Ian brings his electrifying show to new shores.

With legendary supporters like Jean Jaques Burnel, the late Janice Long, and Gary Crowley, Ian Prowse's songwriting has struck a chord with the best. Don't miss your chance to witness this musical marvel – secure your tickets now and be part of an unforgettable night that celebrates a true artist and his extraordinary journey!

Support for the night comes from Helston born and raised Dean Morris better known in music circles as The Gleeman. As anticipation continues to build for the release of his debut album ‘Something To Say’ in July, Cornwall’s own The Gleeman (born & raised in Helston) performs here in his home county for the first time at Old Bakery Studios.

His 2022 debut release, ‘Gunslinger Acoustic EP’, marked a refreshing return to the sort of skilled compositions that many of us have been longing for. These evocative pieces have had listeners reaching for the who’s who of A-list singers and writers that they evoke.

A string of subsequent releases, combining winning melodies, meaningful lyrics and time-honoured song craft, have cemented The Gleeman’s fan base and reputation as a truly gifted songwriter and storyteller, as anticipation continues to build for the release of his debut album ‘Something To Say’.

Album tracks produced with Will Hicks (Ed Sheeran) featuring contributions from the likes of Ash Soan on drums (Adele), Fred Abbott on guitar/keys (Noah And The Whale) and hitmaker & broadcaster David Grant on backing vocals, demonstrate the depth of The Gleeman’s musical musings and mark him out as a serious album artist.

With a plethora of press proclaiming The Gleeman’s virtues, a rally of radio support including BBC Radio 2, BFBS, BBC Radio London, BBC Introducing, BBC Radio Cornwall, BBC Nan Gaidheal, Radio Caroline and play listed nationally twice on the UK’s fastest growing independent commercial radio station Boom Radio, a Top Ten hit in the Music Week Commercial Pop Club Chat and with live dates as a special guest of acclaimed artists Ian Prowse (Pele / Amsterdam), Starsailor, Damien Dempsey and Tony Christie, with songs that indeed have ‘Something To Say’, expect to hear, see and be inspired by more of The Gleeman.
