Globe-trotting singer, songwriter and guitarist Amy May will make a long-awaited return to her homeland this Summer, performing at The Old Bakery Studios in Truro on Friday, July 12th.
Promoting the release of her widely anticipated third studio album, “Mystic” (due for worldwide release June 14th 2019), Amy is set to embark on a 6 week European Tour, with other dates in Berlin, Zurich, Paris and London. Performing with a live band, Amy will be featuring songs from the new album, described as a blend of acoustic pop/ rock with subtle influences of folk and country.
Since releasing her debut album,”Right Right Now”, Amy May's raw, heartfelt lyrics and stirring melodies have gained her a global fan base, expanded further by her songs being regularly featured in hit TV shows, Documentaries and Feature Films. Her song 'Open' scored the No. 1 spot in the Female Singer-Songwriter chart on the music discovery and MTV Partner OurStage.com, and her widely- popular song 'Real' gained huge acclaim after featuring on the hit drama series 'One Tree Hill’. Since her move from Cornwall to Los Angeles, California, her career has continued to take her music even further around the world, performing in Sydney, Dubai, Thailand, Fiji and throughout Europe, including 3 times at Cannes Film Festival.
After recently suffering the heartbreaking loss of her mother, Amy kept writing and channeled her grief into her natural creativity, working in Los Angeles and Nashville alongside an award- winning team of producers, Mike Krompass (Smash Mouth, Nelly Furtado, Natasha Bedingfield), songwriters Catt Gravitt, (Kelly Clarkson, Kelsea Ballerini), Pam Sheyne, (Christina Aguilera, Corinne Bailey Rae) and mixer Chris Lord- Alge (Avril Lavigne, Carrie Underwood, Michael Buble), to create undoubtedly her most expressive and powerful work yet. “Mystic" is a testament to her infinite capacity for hope and strength, most evident in the song ‘Author', which carries the powerful message that when life breaks you, there is always a chance to begin again and come back stronger than ever before.
“Amy May is a force to be reckoned with. With beautiful, passionate vocals and cleverly-crafted lyrics, she is a rare talent who will surely be heralded as the Stevie Nicks of her time.” SurfingSoundWaves.com
